Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 31, 2026
Byzantine Technologies LLC ("Byzantine Technologies," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website and services, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website or submitting information to us, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you contact us, request a consultation, or complete our HIPAA self-assessment lead form, we may collect:
- Your name, business or practice name, and role
- Email address and phone number
- Details about your organization, your goals, and any message you send us
- Assessment results you choose to submit (such as a HIPAA readiness score)
Our HIPAA self-assessment is scored entirely within your browser. We do not receive your answers or score unless you choose to submit the lead form on that page.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we may collect limited technical information automatically, such as your browser type, device, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the site.
2. How We Use Information
- To respond to your inquiries and provide the services you request
- To follow up about consultations, assessments, and our services
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve our website
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to operate our business, including with:
- Service providers who help us run our website and communications (for example, our email delivery and hosting providers), under obligations to protect your information.
- Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers; card data is handled directly by Stripe under its own privacy and security practices.
- Legal and safety recipients when required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
4. Protected Health Information (PHI)
Our website is a marketing and informational resource and is not intended for the submission of protected health information (PHI). Please do not include patient PHI in website forms or messages. Where we act as a business associate for a client, the handling of PHI is governed by the applicable Business Associate Agreement (BAA) and HIPAA, not by this Privacy Policy.
5. Relationship to Other Agreements
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information collected through our website and online services. It does not replace, amend, or supersede any Business Associate Agreement (BAA), Master Services Agreement, Statement of Work, or other written agreement between you and Byzantine Technologies. Where you are a client subject to a signed agreement, that agreement — and, for protected health information, the applicable BAA and HIPAA — controls the handling of information addressed in it. In the event of a conflict, the separately executed written agreement controls to the extent of the conflict. For more on this hierarchy, see the Relationship to MSA, BAA, and Website Terms section of our Terms of Service.
6. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we hold. Our website and lead handling run on hardened, security-focused infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
8. Your Choices & Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may opt out of marketing communications at any time by emailing us. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws (such as the CCPA or GDPR). We will honor valid requests as required by law.
9. Cookies
We use a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies necessary to operate the site and understand basic usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
10. Children's Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
